Connect Prisma Postgres to Infograph
What it brings in: Every table and view the user can read.
What you need
- A Prisma Postgres database.
- Access to it in the Prisma Console.
Your connection string
Each part is one thing you fill in, and each can fail on its own.
postgres://[user]user: fix for "The username or password was not accepted.":[password]password: fix for "The username or password was not accepted."@db.prisma.iohost: fix for "We couldn't find that host. Check the host name, then try again.":5432port: fix for "The host refused the connection. Check the port, and that your database accepts connections from Infograph's address."/postgresdatabase: fix for "That database does not exist on this server."?sslmode=requireSteps
Generate a connection string
Open your database, choose Connect to your database, then Generate new connection string.
Copy the direct string
Copy the direct string, with host db.prisma.io and port 5432. Do not use the pooled host, pooled.db.prisma.io, or a prisma+postgres:// URL: neither works for syncing.
postgres://[user]:[password]@db.prisma.io:5432/postgres?sslmode=requirePaste it in Infograph and choose your tables
Open Prisma Postgres in Infograph, paste the string and press Connect. Pick the tables you want and Infograph starts loading them. Prisma Postgres has no read-only role, so this user can write too: Infograph only ever reads.
Allow 51.222.152.247 through your firewall so Infograph can connect.

Troubleshooting
Each entry is the message Infograph shows when a connection fails. Open it for the fix.
This host is not reachable from Infograph. Use your database's public address.
Copy the direct string again from Connect to your database. Its host is db.prisma.io.
We couldn't find that host. Check the host name, then try again.
Check the host is db.prisma.io. A prisma+postgres:// URL is not a database address, so generate a new connection string and copy the direct one.
The host refused the connection. Check the port, and that your database accepts connections from Infograph's address.
Check the port is 5432 and the host is db.prisma.io, not pooled.db.prisma.io.
The server closed the connection. Check that it allows Infograph's address, and whether it requires an encrypted connection.
The server answered, then hung up before Infograph could sign in. Check it allows 51.222.152.247: some hosts close the connection rather than refuse it. If the server accepts only encrypted connections, set SSL Mode to Require under Advanced.
The host did not answer in time. Check the host and port, and that your firewall allows Infograph's address.
Check the host and port match the direct string. Generate a new connection string if you are not sure.
The username or password was not accepted.
Generate a new connection string and paste the direct one again. An old string may no longer be valid.
Those credentials were not accepted.
Generate a new connection string and paste the direct one again.
That database does not exist on this server.
Copy the direct string again so the database name after the last / is exact.
