Connect Shopify to Infograph
What it brings in: orders, customers, products, draft orders, abandoned checkouts and 6 more.
What you need
- A Shopify store.
- To sign in as the store owner, or as staff with the Manage and install apps and channels permission plus access to orders, customers and products.
- Your store's handle: the part of your admin address after admin.shopify.com/store/.
Steps
Find your store's handle
Open your Shopify admin and look at the address bar. The handle is the part after admin.shopify.com/store/, and it is also the start of your store's myshopify.com address. It is not your own domain, even if customers know the shop by that.
your-storeEnter it in Infograph
Open Shopify in Infograph, type the handle into Store subdomain and press Continue to Shopify. You only need the handle, not the full address.
Install the app in Shopify
Shopify opens your store's install screen in a new window and lists what Infograph will be able to read. Infograph only reads. Approve the install, and the window closes.
Choose what to sync
Back in Infograph, pick the data you want, such as orders, customers and products, and Infograph starts loading it.
What it syncs
Each becomes a table in Infolake that you can chart, report on or ask about. You choose which to sync.
- Orders
orders Every order, open, closed or cancelled, with the customer, totals, tax, discounts, line items, refunds and fulfilments. The base for sales, product and customer dashboards.
Ask: “What were our sales by product each week this quarter?”
- Customers
customers Every customer, with their contact details, addresses and how much they have spent. Shows who your best customers are and who has not come back.
Ask: “Who are our top 20 customers by total spent?”
- Products
products Your products and their variants, such as each size or colour, with prices, SKUs and stock. Ties orders back to what you sell.
Ask: “Which products are running low on stock?”
- Draft orders
draft_orders Orders created by your staff in Shopify admin, for example for phone or wholesale sales, with the customer, items, totals and status. Shows sales made outside the online checkout.
Ask: “How many draft orders were turned into real orders last month?”
- Abandoned checkouts
abandoned_checkouts Checkouts a shopper started but did not finish, with what was in the cart, the total and the customer's details if they gave them. Shows the sales you nearly made.
Ask: “What is the total value of abandoned checkouts each week?”
Show all 11 tables
- Locations
locations The places you stock and fulfil from, such as shops and warehouses, with their addresses. Lets you split orders and stock by location.
Ask: “Which location fulfils the most orders?”
- Store details
shop One row about your store, with its name, domain, currency and timezone. Gives every other table its context.
Ask: “What currency and timezone is our store set to?”
- Payment transactions
transactions Each payment event on an order, such as a sale, capture or refund, with the gateway, status, amount, currency, card brand and when it happened. Shopify's fees are not included.
Ask: “How much did we take through each payment gateway last month?”
- Custom collections
custom_collections Collections you fill by hand, with their title, description and when they were published. Lets you group sales by collection.
Ask: “Which hand-picked collections hold the most products?”
- Smart collections
smart_collections Collections Shopify fills automatically from rules you set, such as a tag or a price, with their title and rules. Lets you group sales by collection.
Ask: “Which of our automatic collections sells the most?”
- Products in collections
collects One row for each product in a hand-picked collection, linking the product to the collection. Joins products and orders to the collections they belong to.
Ask: “What were sales by collection last month?”
Troubleshooting
Each entry is the message Infograph shows when a connection fails. Open it for the fix.
Your browser blocked the sign-in window. Allow pop-ups for this site, then try again.
Infograph opens the sign-in in a small window, and your browser stopped it. Allow pop-ups for app.infograph.ai from the icon in the address bar or in your browser's site settings, then press Connect again. An ad blocker or privacy extension can block the window too: pause it for app.infograph.ai and try again.
Access was not allowed, so nothing was connected. Connect again and choose Allow.
The sign-in was answered with Cancel or Deny, so nothing was connected and Infograph holds no access. Press Connect again and choose Allow. Infograph uses the access only to read and sync your data.
Your account cannot read this data. Ask an admin of the account for access, then connect again.
Shopify refused to share this data with your account. Staff can only install an app when their own permissions cover what it reads. Ask the store owner to give you Manage and install apps and channels, and access to orders, customers and products, under Settings, Users. Or ask the owner to connect the store. Then connect again.
Infograph's access was removed or has expired. Re-authenticate to resume syncing.
Infograph's app is no longer installed on the store, or Shopify stopped accepting its access. This usually means someone uninstalled it under Settings, Apps. Press Re-authenticate in Infograph and approve the install again. Your synced data stays in Infograph.
Common problems
These happen in Shopify itself, where Infograph cannot see them.
Shopify says the store cannot be found
You entered your own domain, such as shop.example.com, or the store's display name. Infograph needs the myshopify.com handle, which is the part after admin.shopify.com/store/ in your admin address. Go back and enter that instead.
You cannot approve the install
Your staff account is missing the Manage and install apps and channels permission, or the access the app asks for. The store owner can add it under Settings, Users, or install the app themselves.
The install screen opens for the wrong store
If you are signed in to more than one store, check the handle you typed matches the store you mean. Shopify installs the app on the store named in the handle, not the one you last opened.
